Abstract
The necessity for translation of school reports to foreign languages mostly stems from globalization and virtually endless possibilities of transfering to educational institutions in the majority of EU countries. In the hiring process, foreign employers, schools and higher education institutions require the candidate to provide translations of school reports confirming obtained education and qualifications, prepared by a sworn, certified translator. In view of the above, this article is focused on a discussion about the specific character of certified translations and education as well as status of certified translators in Poland. The article also presents substantive and formal rules for preparation of certified translations. Further, the article focuses on the issue of Polish school report translations to German.
