Over the years, Radom was a very important trade centre in the region. People of Radom and peasants from the neighborhood could sell their goods at the main marketplace, which was situated within the market square and a few other places. One of the most important, was located at the Jagiellonian Square. Citizens of Radom used to call it “rajszula”. The regression of the traditional trade market followed after coming into power by communist government in 1945. So called “battle for the trade” was an intense fight with the private entrepreneurship. That specific kind of phenomenon could have been noticed also at the marketplace at the Jagiellonian Square. The report from the “battle for the trade” was written in detail, in the local newspaper “Życie Radomskie”. Articles from the newspaper, were describing battle with the speculations, critique of the street trade and report from the building of Department Store. After a few years, the number of merchants in Radom, was reduced almost by a half. At the former “rajszula” square, a National Department Store was built.pl_PL
