Abstract
The article starts with presentation of development of the
clothing industry in Poland between the 19th century and the
present time.The author characterizes next the basis professions
in the clothing industry with special attention devoted to
professions of tailor end seamstress. The next part of the
article discusses ways of obtaining qualifications in the field
of clothes-making profession. The author points out two forms
of selecting the profession in clothing industry:
- through selection of secondary-technical or vocational
school - preparing for work in the clothing industry:
- through selection of job in a clothing mill.
The author underlines also positive and negative features of
both forms of obtaining the necessary professional skills and
performs an analysis of harmony between the selected profession
and expectations as well as aspiration of the interviewed
workers in Próchnik Clothing Mill.
