Metateksty dramatów Witolda Gombrowicza

Abstract

In this paper I present metatexts of three Witold Gombrowicz’s dramas: Iwona księżniczka Burgunda, Ślub and Operetka. The first drama was published in 1938 and has two metatexts. In first Witold Gombrowicz presents summary of action and in the second he wrote some hints to actors and director. Second drama has three metatexts, two are similar to that in previous drama, and the new one describes main idea of this piece. Last, Operetka, has also three metatexts like the previous one. Witold Gombrowicz puts a strong impact on his drama by this metatexts. He led the interpreters on his ways of interpretation and gives them a small margin of their own will. That is the reason why, for many years, this dramas was read like Lesedrama, without a need to be presented on a stage. However, the first presentations of plays in theatres open a new field of interpretations (for example of Iwona…). So, the main conclusion of my paper is that, firstly, Witold Gombrowicz’s dramas are integral compositions, with main text and all metatexts, secondly, this dramas need to be played in theatres, because we can see there a new fields of interpretations, and thirdly, we need to take a closer look into this metatexts in further interpretations.
