Kobelt is credited with advancing the anatomy and physiology of the organs of genital pleasure. His knowledge is based on dry natural anatomical parts and the observation of mammalian copulation. But he is also the author of the highly debatable assertion that the glans of the clitoris is stimulated by the penis during coitus. This conclusion stems not only from the scientific methods he employs, but also from the rise of the love marriage ideal.
