Rzymianki i wino
Abstract
The article aims to analyze various issues concerning the status of women in the context of wine consumption in ancient Rome. The study focuses on Latin literary texts that narrate prohibitions against Roman women drinking wine, revealing that they were not allowed to consume wine spontaneously. Additionally, the article highlights passages describing what was considered absolutely inappropriate in terms of wine consumption, as well as how compliance with these bans was monitored. Alongside these prohibitions, the texts also mention “wines” specifically intended for women.
