A Vocabulary Companion to Practical English 1

Abstract

The workbook for University of Łódź MA students combines lexical exercises on the following five topics covered in class: TOPIC 1:PREJUDICE AND DISCRIMINATION; TOPIC 2: THE CULTURE OF THE IMAGE; TOPIC 3:MARKETING; TOPIC 4: WORK AND SUCCESS; TOPIC 5: DEMOGRAPHY. It provides extensive practice in word formation, phrasal verbs, fixed phrases, idiomatic expressions, and collocations, as well as in pronunciation and vocabulary-oriented speaking. The compilation consists of five vocabulary sets in which all practised lexical items are presented in meaningful contexts, followed by vocabulary practice sections containing practical exercises and suggested answers. The workbook features two additional vocabulary revision sets for Topics 1–3 and 4–5, respectively, providing further feedback students may use to diagnose their progress.
