Abstract

In the obituary we point out the importance of Professor Vincent Blanár in linguistics – historical lexicology and lexical semantics but mainly in onomastics. We emphasize the significance of his works in the field of theoretical onomastics and anthroponomastics. His monographs and studies dedicated to unofficial personal name represent a work of European importance.
