Abstract
Peasant genealogy, unlike the genealogy of the nobility, has a poor base of archival records. Traditionally, the most important sources are the surviving parish registers and individual documents stored in parish archives. There are two very old parishes with medieval origins in the Rozprza area, namely the parishes of Rozprza and Mierzyn, in which church records dating back to 1660 (baptism and marriage register) and 1719 (baptism register) respectively have been preserved. It is thanks to them, as well as other sources used in the publication, that we can learn about selected oldest peasant families of the Rozprza area. The analysis of the discussed records made it possible to conclude that peasant families in the area had their own surnames as early as the mid-17th century.
