Działalność Koła Łódzkiego Polskiego Towarzystwa Filologicznego w latach 1945-1990

Abstract

After the war in Łódź was created a new University and professor Jan Oko organized the Departm ent of Classical Philology. In June 1946 one of the scholars, dr Marian Golias, has reactived the Łódź Circle of the Polish Philological Society. In 1968 professor Stefan Oświęcimski was elected the chairman of the Circle; he held that function until 1983. At the times of Oświęcimski the Circle not only increased in number of members, but was being fully active. In 28 June 1980 dr Ignacy Ryszard Danka and dr Józef M acjon were capable to organize The Section Indoeuropean of the Łódź Circle of the Polish Philological Society. In 1983 dr Józef Macjon, Stefan Oświedmski’s pupil, was elected the chairman of the Circle. At the times of Macjon the Łódź Circle became one of the best circles in our Society.
