From 23 March 1942 to 1 September 1942 the most part of General An ders’ soldiers (76 700) together with 40 000 civilians were evacuated from USSR to Iran. The majority of the civilian population was accomodated in several camps. At that time there were a few active members of the Peasant Party (SL) in Iran. Among them were: Franciszek Wilk, Stanisław Dzięgielewski, Wanda Szuszkiewicz, Michał Parylak, Józef Bera and Mikołaj Jerzy Górszczyk. They called into being the Political Committees of the Peasant Party in Iran on 14 October 1942 and they achieved a lot in a short time. The Peasant Party became the largest and best organized polish political party in Iran. An important aspects of SL activity in Iran were cultural events and propaganda work. Additionally SL was very involved in education policy (especially adult education) among polish refugees. The SL in Iran expressed a deep-felt patriotism and gave full suport for Stanisław Mikołajczyk and the Polish Government in London. The SL was op posed to the groving bureacratisation of polih administration in Iran. That stand point brought SL into conflict with the Polish Socialist Party (PPS)pl_PL
