Abstract

The paper presents 4 old factory buildings, which were revitalised and transformed into academic centres: Lodz Academy of International Studies, The College of Informatics, The University of Humanities and Economics and Technical University of Łódź. The article describes the new arrangement of industrial interior and the exterior appearance, which were designed for library services. The academic libraries are important part of every institution of higher education; they are also centre of cultural and social life.
