Przedmiotem opisu niniejszego artykułu postanowiono uczynić imię szacownej Jubilatki — prof. dr hab. Elżbiety Umińskiej-Tytoń. Elżbieta to imię pochodzenia biblijnego, a jego pojawienie się w antroponimii polskiej należy wiązać z ekspansją kultury chrześcijańskiej, która objęła w średniowieczu niemal całą Europę. Jest to antroponim zaczerpnięty z języka hebrajskiego. W Polsce imię to jest znane od XII wieku. Po raz pierwszy pojawiło się w 1198 roku w postaci Helisabeth: „Mesacho, Pollonie dux et prima uxor eius Helisabeth”. Przez wiele stuleci było to miano bardzo popularne, jednak od lat sześćdziesiątych XX wieku jego popularność maleje.

The subject of the description in this article was decided to include the name of the honorable Jubilarian — prof. dr hab. Elżbieta Umińska-Tytoń. Elżbieta is the name of biblical origin, and its appearance in Polish anthroponymy should be associated with the expansion of Christian culture, which in the Middle Ages covered almost all of Europe. It is a name taken from the Hebrew language. In Poland this name has been known since the 13th century. The first record of the name can be found in the document from 1198, then in the form Helisabeth: „Mesacho, Pollonie dux et prima uxor eius Helisabeth”. For many centuries it was the name of a very popular, but since the sixties of the 20 th century, its popularity is decreasing.
