Abstract

The main goal of this article is to presents some norms so-called smartness, refinement which next to decorum, decency and courtesy Ignacy Piotr Legatowicz had contained in his textbook. Elegance makes in his view inseparable element of wide understand of decorum. It will be showed here so-called external aspect of refinement. Source analysis was done in close dependence with history and evolution in the literature of manners area. Relating to smartness, refinement norms showed in Lagatowicz codex the Author of this text decided to implement some appositions and quotes taking from weekly „Magazine of fashions and newness about household” (release in 1860, 1861).
