Streszczenie
The author indicates the aspect of intergenerational transmission of interests, which is underestimated in pedagogical and psychological research. Its importance is confirmed by results of research, done by the author for her doctoral dissertation on cultural interests among youths. They reveal, that family intergenerational transmission is one of basic factors in the development of interests and it creates the other kinds of influence, for instance at school and in media. Family creates behavioral patterns and formulates expectations for children. Interests correlate with innate talents less than with interests of parents, what indicates decisive influence of the time, spent together by parents and children. Parents might transmit knowledge directly or influence situations like choosing readings or using media. Not only the content of interests, but also the fact, that they are important for family members, is significant for intergenerational transmission. The other phenomenon of great importance is the fact, that parents and children have common interests – nowadays it happens more often that in previous generations. More and more people of previous generations develop new interests influenced by their children, which is one of examples of prefigurative culture, described by Margaret Mead. Intergenerational transmission of interests takes place also in other educational situations: at school and on media.
