Abstract

The second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century it is a period of significant changes related to the ICT development and the emergence of the information society. This paper presents the notion of the information society and its characteristics, as well as the problem of measuring the level of information society’ development and its selected indexes. The next part of the paper covers the analysis of the Polish position in Europe and in the world in terms of the information society’ development and changes that have occurred in this area in recent years.
