Abstract
The administrative province of Lodz has always been characterized by the highest shares of women in the total work force. After changes in the country's administrative division in 1975, when this administrative province assumed its urban character, feminization of employment was even bigger. The article begins with presentation of factors, which have exerted their influence on this feminization. The analysis proceeds next to description of women employment in the socialized sector of the province with more attention being paid to changes in employment structure in the years 1975-1906. The employment structure has been analyzed according to sectors of the national economy and educational background. More attention has been devotee to the analysis of employment in industry, because this sector employe the biggest share of working women in Lodz. Allowances have been made for changes In the number of women benefiting from child-care leaves. The authoress points at the necessity of differentiating forms of employment (flexible working time, part-time jobs, outwork system) in order to make it easier for women to reconcile their professional employment with household duties. The article ends with some remarks summing up the entire performed analysis.
