The article underlines psychological aspect of work, which is just as important as an economic aspect indicated by the economists (work as a source of income). Particular attention is paid to the achievements of management and organizational psychology – a field of study of human behavior at work, showing the nature of work in a modern society. Therefore, it is vital for the management personnel of an organization to learn main theories, models and study techni-ques as well as to understand tasks and challenges of this field of study.
In this context, the titular “vitamins” can be perceived as a metaphor for the importance of supporting managerial actions with psychological skills (namely applying psychological “vitamins of work”). However, in a rich spectrum of psychological knowledge, one of the concepts of motivation (an interesting, but not very popular concept by P. Warr) defining the features of “good” and “bad” work bears exactly this name. This concept was analyzed and an attempt to clarify the influence of environmental factors on mental health of an employee was made.
