Brudna praca w zawodach medycznych. Analiza kontekstów interakcji pacjentów i personelu medycznego

Abstract

Projekt doktorski koncentruje się na analizie brudnej pracy oraz interakcji związanych z wykonywaniem zawodów medycznych. Przystępując do badań nad brudną pracą wyznaczyłem sobie 3 główne cele: a) cel eksploracyjny – zbadanie i opisanie czym jest brudna praca na przykładzie zawodów medycznych; b) cel teoretyczny – zrozumienie i wzbogacenie koncepcji brudnej pracy; c) cel aplikacyjny (dotyczący potencjału koncepcji brudnej pracy) – zaświadczenie o możliwościach aplikacyjnych tej koncepcji. W rozprawie dążę do zrozumienia tematyki pracy poprzez pryzmat teorii interakcjonistycznych. Zawody medyczne zostały wybrane jako przedmiot badań, dzięki któremu możliwe jest rozwinięcie koncepcji brudnej pracy (Hughes). W dysertacji dokonany został przegląd koncepcji związanych z pracą w rozumieniu Everetta Hughes’a oraz interakcjonistów

This dissertation focuses on the analysis of work activities and interactions related to the performance of medical professions, which were selected as the subject of research. Thanks to the conducted analysis it became possible to develop the concept of dirty work (the term dirty work was proposed by Everett Cherrington Hughes in the text "Good people and dirty work", 1962) According to the author, dirty work is a job that nobody wants to do, but it is essential for the proper functioning of the society. Dirty work is physically heavy, somehow condemned by society and sometimes also immoral. I set myself three goals related to the analysis of dirty work, a) exploration - to study and describe what dirty work is like on the example of medical professions; b) theoretical – to understand and enrich the concept of dirty work; c) application (regarding the potential of the dirty work concept) – to indicate the application possibilities of this concept. Focusing on medical professions I have checked the suitability of the concept for the analysis of various professions, as the conclusions from the project can be used for research on other professions. The research was conducted using the concept of qualitative sociology, while the procedures for data analysis were drawn from Grounded Theory.
