Imigranci z krajów b. ZSRR na polskim rynku pracy – analiza przestrzenna na poziomie powiatów
Abstract
After Poland’s accession to the EU, the infl ow of foreigners to the country was relatively small in
the fi rst years. The successive liberalization of legal provisions relating to the employment of
immigrants, especially in relation to citizens of the former USSR countries, has resulted in the fact
that for several years we have been seeing a high growth rate in the number of foreigners from
the East taking up employment in Poland. The government’s easing of regulations on immigrants’
access to the Polish labor market was forced by the growing demand for employees, especially in
industries such as industry and construction. The aim of this article was to show the scale of
economic immigration to Poland in terms of regions. Moreover, for citizens of six countries established
after the collapse of the USSR, namely: Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and
Ukraine, spatial analysis was made at the level of poviats (for 2019) and was based on a new
procedure in force since January 2018 on seasonal work. The main source of data are the statistics
of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy and the Social Insurance Institutions. The
results of the analysis indicate that the Mazowieckie Voivodeship is one of the main destinations
for citizens from the East, however, in recent years other regions of our country have also gained
in attractiveness. Voivodeships such as: Wielkopolskie, Lubuskie, Dolnośląskie or Łódzkie have
been gaining importance as jobs in recent years.
