Abstract

Genealogy is becoming increasingly popular in Poland. Growing interest in family history, including genealogy, is also visible in Uniejów municipality. Reconstruction of the history of a particular family over several generations is based on orally transmitted information and stories, and private documents. The history of older generations can be established only by studying archival documents. Parish registers of births, marriages and deaths kept by the Roman-Catholic Church and documents in state registries are the primary source for genealogical research. Documents for four parishes in Uniejów municipality have been preserved in a fairly good state: Wielenin (since1594), Uniejów (since 1612), Spycimierz (since 1723) and Wilamów (since 1762).
