Kapitał ludzki, wiedza i innowacje jako czynniki wzmacniające funkcje metropolitalne miast wojewódzkich, na przykładzie Rzeszowa – stolicy regionu podkarpackiego

Abstract

The goal of this article is to analyze the impact of intangible output factors, such as: human capital, knowledge, innovations on the enhancement of metropolitan functions of Polish regional capitals. Local innovation systems of regional capitals strengthen their metropolitan functions. Ensuring the development of technical and social infrastructure is a prerequisite for effective impact of these intangible factors on metropolization processes of regional capitals. The author supports her theoretical considerations by the case of Rzeszów – the capital of Podkarpacki Region. She presents activities of regional authorities, taken with respect to the enhancement of metropolitan functions of Rzeszów through building knowledge-based economy of this city and the whole region.
