The paper presents a problem concerning the possibility of reversing the traditional order which acknowledged the necessity of young people learning from the elderly. Nowadays, young people do not often rely on the authority of older people any more, and they do not treat them as the teachers of life. This happens because they have an ability to access to various sources of knowledge and information and a flexibility in adapting to many changes. For these reasons, the young increasingly become ”teachers” to the older generation. The studies presented in the paper show that young and well educated people are able to see that older generations are lacking in competence in some fields of knowledge. Moreover, the young are interested in supporting the education of older people. Knowledge and experience of the older generation and the skills and pace of learning of young people do not have to be treated in an antagonistic manner. The combination of the qualities of older and younger people seems to be a good opportunity to get to know both generations well and strengthen the intergenerational relationships in families and out of them.
