Sieciowy komponent kapitału społecznego

Abstract

Article focuses on the study of network resources of social capital, i.e. on the measurement of its level and diversity in the whole Lodz voivodeship and in the Lodz voivodeship poviats. The aim of the analysis is to examine the direction and strength of the statistical relationships that occur between network resources and the economic development level of poviats and socio-economic position of the respondents. Analyses show that the inhabitants of Łódź voivodship do not have extensive networks of social interaction, but the intellectual potential of their networks measured by the level of education is relatively high. Furthermore, both the family and the friends’ networks are characterized by high levels of homogeneity in terms of level of education and spatial extent, which means that there is an evident process of closing of the the social structures and structural reproduction among the population of Łódź voivodship. The collected empirical data also show that the network dimension of social capital has a significant impact on the economic and social position of the respondents, but no statistically significant effect on the economic position of poviats as units of analysis.
