Streszczenie
This paper analyses HRM initiatives and tools addressed to older workers implemented in the enterprises functioning in Poland. It attempts to reflect on how such practices can contribute to HRM effectiveness. Paper explains rationale of introducing such initiatives and their sustainability. Next, specific initiatives in the different areas of HRM were described, i.e. those implemented in recruitment, training and development or work organization. Attempt was made to indicate how enterprises go about measuring effectiveness of initiatives addressed to older workers. Observations concerning barriers in employing and maintaining in employment older workers were identified. Employing these category of workers seems to be especially important in the perspective of ageing population and potential workforce shortages. In conclusion recommendations how to implement “Age Management” practices for the benefit of enterprises and workers were offered.
