| dc.description.abstract | On the one hand, the nature of in-depth reflection on the current rural trans
formations should involve placing them within long-term changes. On the other, it should take into account the re{ ections on the scale of interpretation of processes, not just in spatial categories (macro vs. micro) but, above all, in the symbolic
sense (space vs. location). In the case of rural studies, especially geographical ones,
we can see a clear lack of reflection on the research subject, particularly concerning
the image that results from them. The geographical image of the countryside is mainly derived from basing them on a neo-positivist model and, consequently,
the focus on describing phenomena in terms of quantitative distribution and spatial organisation. The main purpose of this study is to present a critical (evaluative) look at the application of concepts critical for formulating research assumptions, such as rural area and countryside, as well as the consequences of such applications for other spatial forms of interpreting the transformations of Polish countryside, such as region and “place”. | pl_PL |
