Abstract

Lay definitions of successful aging The article presents reflections on successful aging in the area of lay understanding of this category. The research conducted in Białystok was confronted with the research conducted abroad. Basically, understanding of successful aging by aging and old people shows more similarities than differences. It appears that the differences result mainly from the use of different terminology in categorizing respondents’ statements. The author postulates the resumption of actions aiming at the improvement of research procedures.
