Abstract

The paper presents the history of reader's groups that started to appear at the beginning of the 20th century. The paper duscusses how they are founded and how their meetings are organised; it also shows their present in the United Kingdom. In the 2004 British Council started to promote reader's groups in Poland, from 2006 in cooporation with the Book Institut. As a result in Poland there have appeared over 200 reader's clubs; they function in public libraries.
