| dc.description.abstract | The author analyzes procedural and instrumental theories of democracy, interpreting them in the context of epistemic and deliberative democracy. Three major forms of procedural democracy (perfect, imperfect and pure proceduralism) are distinguished, and their practical implementation as sortition-based, aggregative and deliberative democracy is analyzed. Subsequently, the author depicts instrumental and substantive interpretations of democratic government and introduces their most popular criticisms. He argues for the impossibility of strict separation of procedural from substantive theories of democracy. On this basis he criticizes the argument concerning allegedly exceptional status of deliberative democracy, which is claimed to be conciliatory in terms of procedural-substantive distinction. | en_GB |
| dc.description.abstract | Celem artykułu jest prezentacja proceduralnych i instrumentalnych teorii demokracji oraz ich interpretacja w kontekście epistemicznych i deliberacyjnych strategii legitymacji rządów demokratycznych. Wyróżnione zostają odmiany demokracji proceduralnej: proceduralizm doskonały, niedoskonały i czysty. Analizowane są jej praktyczno-polityczne implikacje pod postacią demokracji losowej, agregacyjnej i deliberacyjnej. W dalszej kolejności opisane zostają instrumentalne i substancjalne interpretacje procedur demokratycznych oraz argumenty ich krytyków. Autor tekstu wysuwa tezę o niemożliwości ścisłego rozdziału demokracji proceduralnej od substancjalnej. W oparciu o nią skrytykowany zostaje pogląd o wyjątkowym statusie demokracji deliberacyjnej jako koncyliacyjnej wobec sporu proceduralizm-substancjalizm. | pl_PL |
