The Rożnów Reservoir is situated in southern Poland, in the south east of Małopolska Province, about 70 km southeast of Cracow, the capital of the province and 15 km north of Nowy Sącz, the nearest city. It was created in years 1934–1943, as a result of a construction of a 49 meter-high dam on the Dunajec River in Rożnów.
The Rożnów Reservoir with its big tourist potential became over years one of the finest Polish tourist areas. The place is surrounded by beautiful landscape. Closeness of many villages and towns, accompanied by good transportation infrastructure is also an advantage.
Research on the tourist movement at the Rożnów Foothills was conducted since the 1930s by the Tourism Study Centre at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. After the socioeconomic transformation, which took place in Poland after 1989, a lot of significant changes in tourism industry in this area occurred. Gradually state-owned resorts were being closed. At the same time borders were opened. After some time it occurred that holidays abroad are less expensive (e.g. in Slovakia). In case of the Rożnów Reservoir the lack of sewage treatment plant in villages around the reservoir and in the nearby Nowy Sącz and long-term, chaotic exploitation of this area by thousands of tourists caused degradation of its esthetic virtues.

The biggest chance to improve society’s health is to shape the pro-healthy consciousness, motivation and responsibility in terms of people’s everyday behaviour, especially health-related issues. This should mostly take place during the school education period, when young people develop sense of responsibility for their own health, through gaining knowledge and skills.
The school health education should be conducted, so that pupils could learn the benefits of having vast knowledge in the field of human body functioning and proper nutrition as well as of maintaining high level of hygiene and regular physical exercise and its influence on particular body systems and organs.
The aim of this paper was to characterize pro-health attitudes and behaviours of the first-year students of some of Łódź’s universities.
The questionnaire study was conducted among 378 students of the first grade of four of Łódź’s universities: Uniwersytet Medyczny (Medical University), Politechnika Łódzka (Technical University of Łódź), Wyższa Szkoła Turystyki i Hotelarstwa (College of Tourism and Hotel Industry) and Wyższa Szkoła Humanistyczno-Ekonomiczna (University of Humanities and Economics).
The pro-health attitude indicator of the students is at a satisfactory level and according to PRO-ZET scale it is 201.7, which is 74.7% of the maximum value.
83.1% of the studied population consider themselves as healthy persons. Considering their own health, as much as 78.6% of the studied population believe, they are making good choices, mostly in terms of good nutrition (36.1%), personal hygiene (27.6%), physical recreation (22.7%) and avoiding habits (9.2%).
For all the respondents, health is an important and precious value, both in individual and social terms. The respondents rated their general level of health education and pro-health attitude as satisfactory.
The term of healthy lifestyle was generally perceived in a correct way by the students. They realize the importance of healthy lifestyle and its basic components.
Despite verbal declarations, to a large extent students’ attitude does not promote healthy lifestyle.

The article introduces a proposal of activities, aiming at improved adjustment of tourist and cultural offer to the needs of tourists using Polish Sign Language (Polski Język Migowy – PJM). The proposals have been developed, based on review of literature, best practices, as well as author’s on studies, conducted among people with hearing impairment in years 2004–2010 in Poland. These proposals contain hints regarding tourist information system, qualification of the staff responsible for tourist services (including rules of guiding groups of people, who use PJM) as well as opportunities of using new technologies in order to minimize the language barrier and ensure the safety of people with hearing impairment, both indoors and outdoors.

The article aims at showing similarities and differences in the perception of tourist attractions among tourists with and without hearing impairment. The first part depicts perception problems from the theoretical point of view. Complexities of studies on the perception system have been described. The perception itself is channelled via senses, including mainly sight (reception of approximately 87% of outside factors), hearing (7%), smell (3–5%), touch (1–5%) and taste (1%) (Visual Landscape… 1994, after: Pietrzak 2008). The data suggests that people with hearing impairment, owing to dominative position of sight perception and to other senses (except hearing), should perceive outside factors similarly to people with no hearing impairment, also in terms of tourist attractions. Is this really a fact? The attempt to answer this question resulted in conducting questionnaire study among the tourists, both with and without hearing impairment. The data was collected, based on questionnaire study, conducted nationwide in years 2004–2010 among the 292 deaf (for whom Polish Sign Language is the main method of communication) and 1780 people without hearing impairment. The aim of this study was to reveal, if tourists with hearing dysfunction have different tourist preferences than those without any hearing disabilities and to indicate which tourist attractions are the most significant for tourists with hearing impairment. The percentage values and the level of significance (p), calculated on the basis of Pearson’s chi-square test (with border value of p ≤ 0.05), were used in the analysis
It was determined, that in case of perception of natural tourist attractions, there is a major similarity (both, people with and without hearing impairment indicated such attractions as sea, lake, clean natural environment, natural landscape, climate and diversified land relief, including mountains). As far as cultural attractions are concerned, a similarity in perception of both studied groups can also be observed. The most popular attractions include those, which can be perceived with sight: monuments, historic landmarks, museums, open-air museums, places of worship and modern architecture. The biggest differences are related to culture and entertainment, which indicates a social aspect of the disability of people with hearing impairment (a discomfort of being in environment, where sound is the main carrier of information).
The conclusions from the conducted analyses are applicative in their nature. They contain hints for tour operators, involved in creating tourist offer for people using Polish Sign Language, taking into account their preferences, perception abilities and ensuring pleasant tourist experience.
