Perspektywa archeologii współczesności Bachanek, Angelika The aim of the article is to present the results of preliminary research carried out in Gniewoszów and its vicinity (province Mazovia, commune Gniewoszów). The purpose of the research was to identify material traces left over there after the life and extermination of the Jewish community. Indirectly, the article covers an attempt to open a discussion on how important and significant such traces can become in showing the complexity of the local recent troubled past, part of which was the 300-year history of Jews in Gniewoszów, including the one from World War II. Equally important is striving to show how valuable it is to supplement research into the history of the Jewish community by archaeological research in small towns, including those that were inhabited mostly with Jews before World War II. The research carried out so far consisted of attempts to combine data from source query, analysis of archaeological and historical sources, including maps and sketches and also interviews with the oldest inhabitants of Gniewoszów The field survey was preceded by the analysis of all available data containing the geospatial one. By comparing archaeological, cartographic and historical data, it was possible to capture what, almost eight decades after the end of World War II, remained of the Jewish community in Gniewoszów. The subject of the research was both surface-readable and terrestrial traces of the past. The research proceeded without interfering with the material traces of the Jewish presence of the researched places. The information that has been collected so far about the history of Gniewoszów creates the need for further research.; W artykule przedstawiono wyniki wstępnych badań przeprowadzonych na terenie i w okolicy miejscowości Gniewoszów (woj. mazowieckie, gm. Gniewoszów), których celem było rozpoznanie i określenie stanu zachowania śladów materialnych pozostałych tam po życiu i eksterminacji społeczności żydowskiej. Pośrednio jest to próba otwarcia dyskusji nad tym, na ile istotne mogą stać się te ślady w ukazywaniu złożoności lokalnej nieodległej przeszłości, której częścią była 300-letnia historia Żydów w Gniewoszowie, w tym ta z czasów II wojny światowej. Równie ważne jest dążenie do pokazania, jak istotnym uzupełnieniem badań nad dziejami społeczności żydowskiej są badania archeologiczne w małych wsiach i miasteczkach, które przed II wojną światową były zamieszkiwane w większości przez Żydów. Przeprowadzone dotychczas badania polegały na kwerendzie źródłowej, analizie historycznych map i szkiców, rozmowach z najstarszymi mieszkańcami Gniewoszowa oraz na prospekcji terenowej poprzedzonej analizą wszelkich dostępnych materiałów zawierających dane przestrzenne. Poprzez porównywanie i integrację danych archeologicznych, kartograficznych oraz historycznych możliwe było uchwycenie tego, co po niemal ośmiu dekadach od zakończenia II wojny światowej pozostało po społeczności żydowskiej w Gniewoszowie. Przedmiotem badań były czytelne napowierzchniowo ślady przeszłości. Badania następowały bez ingerencji w fizyczną substancję tych miejsc. Its source base results from the ethnographic research carried out by the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography in Łódź in the selected districts of the Lublin Voivodeship, i.e. Łuków, Parczew and Radzyń in the years 2004–2013. This research is also a continuation of the work on the Catalogue of industrial buildings of historical value in Poland. The article focuses on the values of industrial facilities to be seen in their style and architectural details, the dangers to their existence and the examples of the undertaken initiatives for the preservation of the industrial architecture – a vital element of our cultural heritage.; Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą prezentacji problematyki walorów zabytkowych posiadanych przez architekturę przemysłową.
