<summary type="text">Mahabharata w literaturze polskiej. Przekłady, tłumaczenia, inspiracje

The article covers the topic of the more than one hundred years old tradition of translations&#13;
of fragments of the Indian epic Mahabharata to Polish. The works of professional&#13;
indologists like Jan Leciejewski, Helena Willman-Grabowska, Andrzej Ługowski, Halina&#13;
Marlewicz, Iwona Milewska, Marek Mejor and Joanna Jurewicz are discussed in detail. All&#13;
these translations are unquestionably direct ones whereas this directness is not certain in&#13;
regard to the ones which were prepared by Antoni Lange, a famous Polish poet and by&#13;
Antoni Kałuski. This problem of direct and non-direct translations is indicated in the article.&#13;
But for the presentation of the tradition of Polish translations of the fragments of the&#13;
Mahabharata it provides some information on the potential influence given to Polish poets&#13;
based on the stories coming from this Indian epic. One can definitely trace such influences&#13;
in the works of Jan Kasprowicz and Bolesław Leśmian.

The study presents an analysis of the communicative function of word in contemporary&#13;
Indian poetry. With reference to Jerzy Smolicz’s concept of core values, it discusses several&#13;
examples drawn from the poems of Ashok Vajpeyi with the aim at showing that, in the&#13;
context of a multicultural and multilingual society, the language of contemporary Indian&#13;
poems (in this case written in Hindi) not only remains in itself a core value, but it also&#13;
becomes the prime carrier of axiological senses.

<summary type="text">An Analysis of the Notion of Vijňānātman in the Context of the Advaitic Interpretation of the Relation between the Absolute Subject and the Relative Subject

The main aim of this article is to show how some philosophical concepts developed in the&#13;
period of the Upaniṣads — the most important time for building the contextual background&#13;
for further philosophical speculations — as well as to contribute to the discussion how on&#13;
the base of introspective experiences formed the Upaniṣadic view of the world and how that&#13;
view could have been adopted in Advaita thought.&#13;
The topic of this article is to show the relation between two dimensions of reality; one&#13;
of them is denoted by the term akṣarātman — ‘imperishable ātman ’, which is related to the&#13;
Absolute dimension, and the other by the term vijňānātman — ‘reasonable ātman ’, which&#13;
is related to the empirical perspective of reality. The term vijňānātman occurs only twice in&#13;
the classical Upaniṣads. We can find it in the Praśna. This analysis follows the hermeneutical&#13;
methodology. All consideration are based on the main text of the Praśna with some additional&#13;
remarks to the other texts belonging to the line of the Atharvaveda, to the Muṇḍaka and to&#13;
the Māṇḍūkya. The leading idea of the Praśna and Muṇḍaka is the deliberation between parā&#13;
(higher) and aparā vidyā (lower wisdom), and the special emphasis devoted to describing the&#13;
details of yogic procedures.
