The rules most often used to estimate net premiums in car liability insurance are the rules
based on classical statistical measures. In the case of asymmetric distributions, estimating net
premiums by means of location measures seems reasonable. In the paper the influence of the
parameter of the distribution of the size of damages and net premium estimating method on the
size of net premium have been examined. The research was done for the Paretro type distribution
with different parameters.

Assessing company performance is one of the basic elements of the management function.
The traditional view on this topic based solely on financial information is now criticised due to
(among other things) the short-term attitude and absence of aspects connected with the company
strategy implementation.
The assessment of a company performance should reflect changing needs of stakeholders and
other bodies connected with the company (customers, suppliers, investors, employees, market
regulators, etc.), and enable to manage the reactions of the organisation to the emerging
challenges.
Knowledge-based economy changed the organisations into information- and knowledge-
-depending systems, which requires a specific approach to internal control in such organisations.
This in turn affects the way of conducting the internal audit, which should be a support for the
Managing Board, external auditors and market regulators. Internal audit plays an active role in the
risk management process that is the main factor determining the survival of the company.
Article certainly does not exhaust the issue concerning measuring of the added value
contributed by the audit and requires further considerations, particularly regarding ways of
measuring the effectiveness and employee potential using methods from the scope of human
resources management.

Natural phenomena such as extreme snowfall may cause diverse losses and costs in land
transport, agriculture or life, health inhabitants. One form of protection against this risk is its
transfer to the insurance company. This subject should concentrate on the construction of adequate
insurance tariffs for this product. For this purpose, in this article, used statistics such as „the
number of local threats due to extreme snowfall of 100 thousand inhabitants”. The study shows
that the north-eastern and south-east regions, and łódzkie are the most threatened to extreme
snow. It is proposed in these regions to increase the amount of insurance premiums, while in others they decrease.

The article analyses the admissibility of the court revaluation of payments made under
personal insurance with respect to judicial practice and scientific opinions.
Article 358
1
§ 3 of the Civil Code
1
allows a court of law to intervene in a contract or issue
a relevant ruling, if the purchasing power of the currency changed significantly after the
contractual obligation arose. To this end, a court of law has to assess the „significance” of the
change and specify the measure to be used for revaluing a claim, if necessary. Besides, it should
weigh the interest of both parties in each case, respecting the principles of community life.
Within the area of insurance relations, court revaluation aims to compensate for inflation
(deflation), thus protecting the interests of both contractual parties. The contractual parties in the
insurance industry are insurance companies specialised in selling insurance policies on a mass
scale and consumers, i.e. individuals in need of special protection.
Court practice allows the revaluation of payments made under personal insurance (especially
dowry insurance and deferred annuities). The admissibility of revaluing payments that have
already been made and of multiple revaluations raises some doubts, though.
