Książki jako ofiary rewolucji. Konsekwencje powstania i upadku NRD dla literatury i księgarstwa Okoński, Krzysztof This article analyses most important phenomena, events and trends connected with the history of literature and readership at the time of the German Democratic Republic and after 1990 in the eastern part of Germany. The political system of the state ruled by W. Ulbricht and E. Honecker demonstrated a number of typical solutions of communist cultural policy, yet the literary life and book market resulted from the division of Germany and other specific circumstances (e.g., the Berlin Wall, Nazi dictatorship before 1945, book burning 1933, more intense Stalinist trends as well as abundant traditions of bookselling). The article also focuses on manifestations of the protest culture such as as Samisdat, Tamisdat, the activity of ecological libraries as well as initiatives aiming at saving independent publications from the GDR period.

Biblioteki oświatowe i publiczne w Łodzi w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym Kaczmarek, Iwona Lodz of the interwar period was the second, after the capital, most populous city of the Second Republic of Poland. After regaining independence, the population of the city was about 300,000 inhabitants. In 1919 there were about 80 large libraries of various types in the area of Lodz. They included: the Public Library, public libraries run by cultural and educational societies, libraries run by social and cultural associations, libraries run by trade unions and professional associations as well as libraries at schools. These places faced a lot of financial perplexities as well as housing problems. An important achievement of the Lodz librarianship of the twenty year interwar period was to carry out the concept of the inter-municipal library network with the Public Library as the central research library, places to borrow books for children, adolescents and adults. The author of the project presented in 1921 at the meeting of the Cultural and Educational Magistrate was Jan Augustyniak.

Zatrudnienie absolwentów studiów bibliologicznych w łódzkich bibliotekach w latach 2006-2010 Sójkowska, Iwona; Podgórski, Filip The survey was held in the middle of 2011 which aimed to establish the existing employment policy in Lodz academic and public libraries. The authors attempted to examine the actual state of employment and personnel policy in the libraries during last five years. The essential issue in the survey were factors which constituted the candidate’s appeal for the employer, as it would be important information for students in their education as well as professional development.
