The Wzniesienia Łódzkie Landscape Park was founded in 1996
within the administrative boundaries of Łódź and Skierniewice provinces. It
encompasses a fragment of the edge zone of Northern Brink Heights which is
characterized by considerable relative altitudes and large slope declivities. In the
upland landscape of the park old and sightly trees play a significant role. They
grow most often in villages, next to places of religious worship and national
memorials. While preparing an inventory, many trees fulfilling the criteria of
a natural monument were found. Of these only some specimens have been
subject to legal protection. Valuable old trees may be also found in rural parks.
Within the Wzniesienia Łódzkie Landscape Park 5 objects of this type can be
found, the most valuable of them being the ancient manor-park in Klęk. Due
to inadequate professional care most of them are in a doubtful state.

In the paper are presented results of researches on flora, plant
communities and spatial structure of vegetation of the Żabieniec peat bog. These
researches were carried out in the years 1995-1996. In the peat bog 17 plant
communities were distinguished. They belong to 5 ecological groups: forests and
scrubs (3), rushes (5), meadows (4), water communities (3) and peat communities
(2). The paper contains also a map of real vegetation, 2 profiles of vegetation
of peat bog, and list of 182 species of bryophyta and vascular plants (including
rare in Central Poland peat bogs species).

The structure of plant layers as well as diameters of trees in
forest communities of the Paprotnia Range are presented in the paper. On the
base of these results are characterized: the story of development, the present
biological structure, the dynamic tendencies and the prognosis of future development
of forest phytocoenoses. Described researches were carried out in the years
1993-1994 and are the continuation of researches on vegetation of the Paprotnia
Range (A. Łuczak, M. Łuczak 2000).
