| dc.description.abstract | The article contains the results of medical examination carried out in the environment of elderly people. Its aim was to determine their fitness for further work. Both personal opinions of these people and their objective psycho-physical capabilities were taken into account. It appeared that at the age of 70 and more years the state of health of over fifty per cent of the examined persons excluded any possibility of undertaking any professional work by them. This observation pertains, to a bigger degree, to women than to men, and to manual than to clerical
