Mieszkać inaczej w PRL. Ewolucja obrazu wnętrz prywatnych w wybranych publikacjach od lat sześćdziesiątych do osiemdziesiątych XX wieku

Abstract

Reading Polish interior design publications can be a starting point for analysing the housing situation in the People’s Republic of Poland, the offer of the furniture industry and even customs. At the same time, by looking at the presented iconographic materials and listening to the language used by the authors, it is possible to observe the evolution that the very notion of a dwelling has undergone in the 30 years since the period of ‘small stabilisation’.The three books (Mieszkanie, Książka o mieszkaniu and Mieszkać inaczej) from three successive decades bear witness to the aspirations, concrete problems of dwellings and the attempts to face them through different methods and directions: from the dwelling considered in the 1960s as a place that must function well to the eclectic space of freedom in the 1980s, from impersonal forms and functional centres to emotions, temporariness and freedom, and finally from the projection of an ideal future, through acceptance of reality to complete contestation and conscious escapism.

Lektura polskich publikacji wnętrzarskich może być punktem wyjścia dla analizy sytuacji mieszkaniowej w PRL, oferty przemysłu meblarskiego, a nawet obyczajowości. Jednocześnie, przyglądając się prezentowanym materiałom ikonograficznym i wsłuchując się w język, jakim operują autorzy, można zaobserwować ewolucję, jaką w ciągu 30 lat, od okresu „małej stabilizacji”, przeszło samo pojęcie mieszkania.Trzy książki (Mieszkanie, Książka o mieszkaniu oraz Mieszkać inaczej) z trzech kolejnych dekad są świadectwem aspiracji, konkretnych problemów lokalowych i prób zmierzenia się z nimi za pomocą różnych metod i kierunków: od mieszkania uznawanego w latach sześćdziesiątych za miejsce, które musi sprawnie działać, po eklektyczną przestrzeń wolności w latach osiemdziesiątych, od form bezosobowych i ośrodków funkcjonalnych do emocji, tymczasowości i swobody i wreszcie od projekcji idealnej przyszłości, poprzez akceptację rzeczywistości aż po zupełną kontestację i świadomy eskapizm.
