Stanisław Grochowski jako tłumacz hymnów kościelnych : na podstawie tomiku "Rytmy łacińskie, dziwnie sztuczne..."

Abstract

Stanilav Grochovski as crerical hymns translator managed to achive for the Polish culture something that can be compared to Kochanovski’s translation of Psalter. This study includes remarkes on Grochovski’s translation workshop. As a poet, he wrote prayers (texts of a very special composition and very simple structure). In case of crerical hymns, we deal with masterpices which was exposed by the translator in the very title of this fragments. He called this pices strangely art-like which means that they evoke admiration by their artistic craft. The poet used to do the translation in order to fit Polish text into famous melodies. Grochovski as the Polish hymn author can be presented as a man of early Baroque, who was constantly staying in a dramatic torment between God and nature.
