dc.description.abstractThe article deals with the problem of welfare protection froms enjoying social preference in conditons of rising food prices. Social expectations in this area were studied by means of questionnaire surveys carried out among employees of state-owned enterprises, students attending daily courses, and pensioners. The opinions gathered in the course of the surveys allowed to formulate two significant conclusions: - in the social awarness of representatives of low-income population groups and pensioners, there predominates a conviction about necessity of shaping food prices also on the basis of social criteria. These groups treat welfare prices as a peculiar welfare protection device; - abonding or restricting considerably food subsidies will call for application of appropriate non-price measures of welfare protection, and especially for systemic solutions in the form of indexation of minimal wages and revalorization of cash benefits.pl_PL
