dc.description.abstract | Niekiedy katalizator jawi się jako siła stymulująca
gwałtowny rozwój turyzmu. Katalizator ten często przybiera
formę niezwykłego zjawiska, wydarzenia lub atrakcji, i staje
się bodźcem dla intensywnego rozwoju politycznego i gospodarczego,
przekształcającego nowe przestrzenie na potrzeby
turyzmu. W pewnej niewielkiej miejscowości w Nowej Szkocji,
w Kanadzie, tym katalizatorem było przyznanie w 1995 r.
tytułu Miejsca Dziedzictwa Światowego przez UNESCO. Poniższy
artykuł prezentuje badania postaw i percepcji mieszkańców
dotyczących tej nominacji, rozwoju turyzmu, konsekwencji
i zmian w miejscowości 10 lat po otrzymaniu prestiżowej

dc.description.abstract | Often, a catalyst emerges as a stimulating
force behind rapid tourism development. This catalyst
frequently takes shape as an unusual occurrence. event
or attraction, and becomes a trigger for vigorous political
and economic development activlty to transform new
spaces for tourism. In one small rural community in
Nova Scotta, Canada, this catalyst was its designation
in 1995 as UNESCO World Heritage Site. This article
presents research that examined residents' attitudes
and perceptions about their UNESCO designation,
tourism development, impacts and change in the
