WYBÓR – czy warto być politologiem?

Abstract

Celem artykułu jest określenie miejsca i roli politologii we współczesnej nauce w kontekście zachodzących we współczesnym świecie globalnych trendów. Autorka stawia pytania o stan i kondycję politologii w odniesieniu do celów, które ta dyscyplina powinna spełniać. Ukazuje w tym kontekście złożoność pojawiających się problemów, m.in. jej fragmentaryzację i postępującą internacjonalizację. Zauważa, że politologia – jako dyscyplina naukowa – ma nie tylko służyć rozwojowi ekonomicznemu danej wspólnoty, ale przede wszystkim rozwijać w jednostce zdolność do krytycznego myślenia i bycia rozumnym, oświeconym członkiem wspólnoty obywatelskiej.

The aim of the paper is to determine the place and role of political science in contemporary science in the context of global trends. The author raises questions about the state and condition of political science with regard to the goals that this discipline should fulfill. The complexity of problems is described including fragmentation and progressive internationalization. Finally, the author states that political science- as a scientific discipline – not only serves the economic development of a given community, but, above all, develops in the individuals the ability to critical thinking and being a rational, enlightened member of the civic community.
