Nowadays the British society is paying greater attention to sporting activity and sport within the United Kingdom compared to the past, as sport is recognised to have an important role within British culture. In 2002 the “The national PE, School Sport and Club Links” strategy was launch by the Prime Minister. The government in partnership with the National Lottery have committed 1,5 billion pounds to this strategy over 5 years. The aim was to enhance the take-up of sporting opportunities by 5 to 16-year-olds, the ambitious target was to increase the percentage of schoolchildren who spend a minimum of two hours a week on high-quality Physical Education and school sport within and beyond the standard curriculum requirements. | pl_PL |
