| dc.description.abstract | This article describes the characteristic features of the dialect of the
village of Stamirowice in the district of Grójec. The village is situated in
the south-western part of the Mazovian Lowlands, on the river Pilica, and lies far from bigger urban centres, which, undoubtedly, favours good preservation of
the dialect not only among the older inhabitants, but also among the members
of the middle generation who have stayed in their home village. In the dialect
under research I observed elements typical of the Mazoviap dialect:
- transformation of the Old Polish 9 =ï ц, e.g.: drążek, kśijska, prąstfi;
- transformation of the initial i a - =à ie-, e.g.: rt /> ° оi eлu oska, ri\ eru\ ufka, as
well as of г а - re-, e.g.; reduo, remiń;
- distribution of the articulation of bilabial palatal consonants into
polyphonemic groups composed of bilabial non-palatal consonant and a spirant
i, e.g.: biouuy, miasto, piosek;
- constant retention of "mazurism", e.g.: borsc, copka, dysc, iascurka,
mzofka;
- using suffix -ak in stem-altering neuter nouns ending in -§, -ęcia,
e.g.: iagriok, косок, nemovlok, prosok.
Considering its geographical position, the village of Stamorowice has
certain language features characteristic of the dialects of the south-
-western Mazovia:
- narrowing of articulation of vowel e in this position before tautosyllabic
i, e.g.: jisei, fcorei;
- occurrence of certain forms without vowel mutation * 'eT 'oT, e.g.: bière,
riese, and without vowel mutation *'eT =à aT, e.g.: vietrok, zapoviedou;
- voicing inter-lexical phonetics, e.g.: viez otalqs, viez mixauovice;
- general occurrence of ending -evi in dative singular form of masculine
nouns, irrespective of the phonetic form of the stem, e.g.: yotkevi, kurievi,
