Analiza obrazu - przegląd metod i inspiracji teoretycznych

Abstract

The article represents an attempt to review methods and techniques of analysis of various images. It contains elements of formal analysis, contents analysis, semiological studies, psychoanalytical variations, and two types of discourse analysis. The article also presents remarks concerning studies of public and reception of art. Each of the described methodology focuses on one aspect of a complex process where meaning, reception and image circulation are constructed. It was noted that each methodology possesses both strong and weak elements. It is necessary to become familiar with all of them, in order to utilise the best method of image interpretation for each individual study. The purpose of this article is to facilitate methodological choices.
