Rozmowy osób w wieku senioralnym – studium pragmalingwistyczne
Pawłowska, Paulina
In the doctoral thesis examples of direct interactions between seniors aging physiologically were examined. The author, using her competencies as a graduate of logopaedics studies, assessed the cognitive state of the seniors and excluded the presence of cognitive disorders. It was confirmed that the study group consists of people aging in a physiological way.
The methods selected for analysis were text linguistics, conversational analysis, and genre analysis. The main objective of the study was to examine the characteristics of conversations between seniors undergoing physiological aging from the perspective of pragmatic linguistic analysis. Material consisting of direct conversations between seniors was collected. Their structure, function, and subject matter were examined, taking into account stylistic and genre levels.
In the empirical part the components of the structure of conversation were described. The components of the textual frame, sets of replies, as well as turning points at the juncture of exchanges were analyzed too. The study also focused on functionally diversity of linguistic valuing means. The next chapter was devoted to simple and complex speech acts that determined the genological characteristics of the collected interactions. The last analytical chapter was focused on the topics. On the one hand, the thematic fields occurring in the material were described, and on the other hand - the thematic dimension of the conversations was compared with stereotypes about old age and aging.
The analyses conducted as part of the dissertation fill a gap in domestic linguistic research, while also demonstrating social and practical value.

Kowalski, Piotr
The doctoral thesis Systemic translation model of the Romanesco dialect for literary and audiovisual translations based on Polish, English and French-language corpus addresses the problem of translating content expressed in the Roman dialect in cultural texts created mainly in Italian and intended for Italian readers and viewers. The study, which aligns with the Descriptive Translation Studies paradigm, is based on a comparison of literary and audiovisual translation in three language configurations: Italian-French, Italian-English and Italian-Polish.
The dissertation answers three primary research questions: 1. What functions can be attributed to contents in the Romanesco dialect in an Italian text? 2. What translation techniques are used to translate such multilingualism to the target languages mentioned above? 3. What differences can be observed in approaches to the translation of the dialectal dynamic depending on the target culture?
The model can be interpreted in two ways. On the one hand, it refers to the research method consisting of a detailed analysis of the history of the diatopic variation, of its structural characteristics and of its position in the Italian culture. Obtaining a complete picture of the Roman dialect and of the place it occupies in the contemporary Italian culture allows to recognize the functions that such linguistic dynamic performs in literature and cinematography. This, in turn, leads to an exploration of the ways in which this multilingualism is reproduced in translation. On the other hand, the model also indicates the typology of translation techniques applicable to contents in Romanesco observed in the corpus, with descriptions of each approach.; La tesi di dottorato di ricerca Modello delle traduzioni letterarie e audiovisive del dialetto romano basato su corpus in polacco, inglese e francese espone la problematica della traduzione dei contenuti espressi in dialetto romano (romanesco) in testi di cultura creati nella lingua italiana e destinati al pubblico italofono.

Nacewska, Zofia
The doctoral dissertation analyzes distinct forms of investigative journalism in American newspapers and examines the influence that media portrayals of investigative reporting between 1969 and 1980 had on reality outside media representation.

To achieve the research objectives, the theoretical framework extends the typology of investigative journalism proposed by B. Kovach and T. Rosenstiel (Original Investigative Reporting, Interpretative Investigative Reporting, and Reporting On Investigations) by adding an intermediary category: Disclosure/Investigative Reporting.

On the methodological level, the dissertation applies, verifies, and supplements the assumptions of the muckraking model and its variations (M.T. Gordon, H.L. Molotch, and D.L. Protess). Empirically, using the proposed research methods and typology, four cases of journalistic investigations were analyzed: the Mirage Tavern, the Pentagon Papers, the trial of the Chicago Seven, and the investigation of the murders attributed to the Zodiac Killer. The research encompasses the content of selected American newspapers.

Chapter I discusses the historical context, including both an attempt to present a periodization of American investigative journalism from the late seventeenth century to the 1980s. Chapter II presents a summary of the research methodology employed in the study (critical discourse analysis (CDA), the theories of linguistic and media images of the world, variations of the muckraking models). Chapter II also presents the characteristics of different types of investigative journalism and its techniques. Chapters III–VI analyze the media representations of selected cases of investigative journalism, as well as their socio-political effects and legal outcomes.; Rozprawa doktorska została poświęcona analizie realizacji różnych typów dziennikarstwa śledczego na łamach amerykańskiej prasy, a także badaniu, jaki wpływ medialne obrazy wybranych reporterskich dochodzeń z lat 1969-1980 miały na rzeczywistość pozamedialną.

Gordon, H.L. Molotch i D.L. Protess).

XX wieku.

XX wieku

Widma bolszewickiego zwycięstwa – polska powieść dystopijna pocz. XX wieku
Hac-Rosiak, Barbara
The scientific dissertation focuses on the analysis of selected Polish literary texts from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and the interwar period, classifying them as dystopian works. The basic theoretical framework adopted in the work is the hauntology of Jacques Derrida, which allows for an in-depth study of the reflection of the anxiety caused by the Bolshevik Revolution in the consciousness of Polish writers. In this approach, dystopia is a negative vision of the world (allotopia), and anti-utopia is classified as a spectral genre. The practical part of the work is devoted to the analysis of several texts: Gdyby pod Radzyminem by Edward Ligocki, Po czerwonym zwycięstwie... by Teodor Jeske-Choiński, Edmund Jezierski's novels (A gdy komunizm zapanuje..., Palę Moskwę, and Wyspa Lenina), Władysław Stanisław Reymont’s Bunt, and his manuscript projects (Misterium / Powrót). All discussed works have been classified as dystopias, as they describe worlds full of injustice, authoritarian control, and manipulation, thus constituting the core of the dystopian message. The authors of the analyzed texts show numerous thematic similarities, concentrating on the ideology of communism as an oppressive and destructive force. This destruction manifests in economic collapse, the destruction of social ties, and the persecution of the Christian faith. The hauntological analysis demonstrates that these texts are haunted by the specter of Bolshevik victory, which manifests itself as a projection of a real future threat. In contrast to canonical dystopias, most of the Polish visions studied have a non-canonical – positive – ending offering hope for repelling totalitarianism.; Rozprawa naukowa koncentruje się na analizie wybranych polskich tekstów literackich z przełomu XIX i XX wieku oraz okresu międzywojennego, klasyfikując je jako utwory dystopijne.
