Jancewicz, Marcin
The article analyzes Gilles Deleuze’s philosophy of time in the co text of the so-called radicalization of empiricism, which postulates a transition from an epistemological (Kantian) to an ontological understanding of temporality. The main thesis of the paper is that time does not constitute an external stage for phenomena, but is a dynamic creative force based on the mechanisms of difference and repetition. The analysis focuses on the Deleuzian concept of the three passive syntheses of time. The first synthesis (Habit) constitutes the “living present” in the process of imagination and habituation. It is a synthesis based on the “contraction” of instants, serving as a foundation for subsequent active syntheses (reflection and memory). The second synthesis (Memory) refers to the “past in general” (the pure past), which does not pass away but coexists with the present as its virtual condition. In this section, the article also analyzes the relationship between virtual and empirical time, as well as the role of involuntary memory. The third synthesis (Eternal Return) concerns the future as an “empty” and “unhinged” time, which is linked to the fracturing of the subject’s identity (the “fractured I”). This is the dimension of novelty, where the eternal return selects beings, allowing only difference to return. The text also addresses the problem of the relationship between virtuality and actuality, and the concept of “sub-representation” as a sphere that conditions classical representation. The conclusion points to a shift away from the philosophy of substance and identity toward a philosophy of difference and repetition, in which the subject is not given in advance but is incessantly constituted by series of time.; Artykuł podejmuje analizę filozofii czasu Gilles’a Deleuze’a w kontekście tzw. radykalizacji empiryzmu, postulującej przejście od epistemologicznego (kantowskiego) do ontologicznego rozumienia temporalności.

<summary type="text">Dwie „połowy” kategoryzacji: neurokognitywne determinanty uwagi w filozoficznym sporze o modele kategoryzacji poznawczej
Gemel, Aleksander; Kabziński, Paweł
The purpose of this paper is to revise the foundations of the ongoing dispute in epistemology over the models of cognitive categorization, polarized between opposing positions: the classical model and the prototypical model. According to the thesis of our article, the attempt to reduce the process of categorization to a single model is an endeavor based on erroneous assumptions, since from the point of view of neuropsychology both modes have their own cognitive justification and usually function in conjunction. We prove the thesis based on collected descriptions of the typical ways of categorization made by autistic people, providing cognitive mechanisms for their explanation. These mechanisms, consistent with the weak central coherence theory, are associated with atypical attentional processes. The final section of the paper is devoted to speculations derived from Iain McGilchrist’s hemispheric hypothesis on the potential neural substrates of attentional processes, that leads to distinct modes of categorization. Thus, we try to prove that the neurotypical way of processing cognitive information should assume both modes of cognitive categorization, and the confrontational way of posing this problem does not provide the possibility of empirically valid conclusion.; Celem pracy jest rewizja podstaw toczonego na gruncie epistemologii sporu o modele kategoryzacji poznawczej, spolaryzowanego między przeciwstawnymi stanowiskami: modelem klasycznym i prototypowym. Zgodnie z tezą naszego artykułu, próba sprowadzenia procesu kategoryzacji do jednego modelu jest przedsięwzięciem opartym o błędne założenia, gdyż z punktu widzenia neuropsychologii oba tryby mają swoje poznawcze uzasadnienie i zwykle funkcjonują w powiązaniu.
