The paper is devoted to some Leibniz's works concerning formal calculus, which makes use of so-called real sum operator. The author tries to show that the calculus had been created to articulate certain metaphysical intuitions specific for Leibniz. The calculus made it possible to put forth and to solve some problems unknown to the scholastic tradition.

Malebranche's psychology of error and psychology of moral choice are the core of what Locke kept on admiring, even when criticizing the metaphysics and the theory of ideas underlying them. So to understand why Locke rejects Malebranche's "idea" and Malebranche rejects Locke's "idea", it is useful to see where they agree and disagree in the theory of moral choice: pleasure, supreme good, suspense, uneasiness, desire are themas debated around them (Arnauld, Bayle) and between them.

The author of the paper analyses different varieties of Kantianism – sometimes more true to the spirit than to the letter of Kant’s – which appear in the 20th century anthropology. Thus he allows us to see that the thought which looks back to Kant is able to remove "complexes" and overcome the "inner contradictions" of modern anthropology.

In the paper author discusses ideas of L. Wittgenstein who renounced formalism which was characteristic of the "Tractatus" epoch. The change is connected with the adoption of a different conception of language which refers, among other, problems to the new approach to "generality" (e.g. to generalized sentences). Wittgenstein rejected the proposition of analytical reductionism which is a conviction that it is possible to reduce and analyse "generality". He changed his opinion connected with the theory of meaning.
The problems discussed above, dealt with by earlier conceptions of Frege and Russell belong to important problems of the philosophy of logic and the philosophy of language.
