<summary type="text">Etyka zawodu inżyniera w świetle wybranych kodeksów

The paper attempts to analyse the ethical duties of engineers contained in selected engineering&#13;
codes of ethics and indicates a few problems arising in teaching professional engineering ethics&#13;
in technical studies.&#13;
The codes of ethics under analysis, both Polish and foreign (American), show similarities&#13;
and differences. The author indicates the likely causes of these similarities and differences and suggests&#13;
the need for further research on the development of ethical standards as well as their implementation,&#13;
application and enforcement. The author discusses teaching ethics based on his own experience and compares a few American&#13;
textbooks used for engineering ethics teaching. The author indicates a lack of necessary teaching&#13;
materials in Polish and the existence of no Polish forum for discussing ethical problems of engineering&#13;
in Poland both in the areas of teaching and research.

The article presents the view that the introduction of the personalistic paradigm into&#13;
entrepreneurship will enable integral economic growth and remove the causes of today’s crisis,&#13;
that is economism and instrumental rationality. Personalism, which recognizes man as a conscious&#13;
person experiencing self and others, has special qualities for application. This is the most useful&#13;
approach to philosophical and ethical analysis of the modern enterprise. In this article the focus&#13;
is on a company managed according to personalistic ethics. Entrepreneurship in the personalistic&#13;
approach is the art of management, which increases the area of common good.

The subject matter of the study is an analysis of the social consequences of increasing &#13;
the retirement age of women up to 67 years. The discussion on the change in the retirement &#13;
age is usually focused on its economic and financial aspects, hence a deeper scientific analysis &#13;
is needed in relation to the social repercussions of this operation. The main subjects of the study are &#13;
as follows: maintenance of equality tendencies in relation to the principles of social justice, changes &#13;
in the social structure manifested especially on the labour market, social expectations as to employment &#13;
security for those approaching retirement and development of flexible forms of working, development &#13;
of incentives encouraging employers to keep current staff or hire new employees of older age, &#13;
and changes in social roles.

<summary type="text">Zjawisko podpaleń w Polsce jako element ryzyka w działalności gospodarczej

The problem of fires in Poland is an important element of public safety. One of the reasons &#13;
ofthe fires are different types of arson of buildings, crops or forests.&#13;
This paper presents a quantitative scale of the phenomenon of arson in Poland. Basing &#13;
on data from the General Headquarters of the Police and Fire Headquarters it analyzes the scale &#13;
offire danger. It also presents the role of specialists in the detection of causes of fires. The article &#13;
points the role ofinsurance in the compensation of fire damage.
