Streszczenie
The basic source of the article is Artur Doliński’s correspondence with his father, Stanislaw Doliński – which also is an official in the Russian Empire, and a family living in Vilnius (Correspondence includes the years 1849–1870). It should be pointed out that Artur Doliński was a well-groomed person, which followed all the novelties, attached a lot of importance to his external image and was following the latest trends. He also had the aspirations to be in „higher company” and imitated the aristocracy’s way of life. He often sought with limited financial means, to live up to the social life of the elite. The preserved materials provide details about the official fashion in the broad sense. We’re including in them descriptions of dressing rooms, reflections about reforms in clerical uniforms, descriptions of purchases, visits to tailors, but also an illustration of fashionable social life and fashionable leisure.
