Although the notion of knowledge management continues to fascinate Poles, no theoreti-
cal background or empirical studies exist in Poland on the topic.
The reason for this is that the concept escapes definition while the effects of its use defy
attempts at quantification. Knowledge management is both a method and a result of commerciali-
zation in management.
The benefits it provides are reaped by consultancies, conference organizers, authors,
publishers, knowledge management associations, certifying authorities, etc.
